Do you really know about God's Love?

Special Greetings Of Love!

In the month of February we have heard and seen more about the Valentine’s Day Celebration all around the world (In India it is promoted as Lovers Day by business people). Over and over again I thought of today’s Love in this world. Can we spare some time to know about True Love? Are you giving this love to others near you?

I would like to term love as “It’s an expression between two people in honoring each others in their life”. There are four special words used in Ancient Greek for this love. In most other languages we often use the same word for Love for example in English it is always referred as “Love” and in Tamil it is referred as “Kaadhal” and “Anbu”.

Coming to these Greek words…

1. Philios Love – “Love between friends or brotherly Love” Philios Love is the first of the Four Loves the Greeks discovered, or named. Philios love is a simple love. A friendship type of love. It has its root in the social need of every human being. We are all born with an innate desire to be loved and accepted. God created us social animals and we must have others around us to survive. Man was not made to exist alone.

2. Storge Love – “Love between children and their parents”

Have you ever seen a newborn animal? Weak, and clumsy. Literally dependent on the protection of the mother those first few crucial hours. Have you ever seen a new born baby? Again, weak, defenseless, totally dependent on the mother for survival and wellbeing. This bond is Storge Love.

3. Eros Love –  ”Love between husband and Wife”

God made man and woman to be attracted to each other. He did this for a purpose. The thing that God loves best to do, in my opinion any way, aside from Love, is to create new life. That is why He made woman for man, and man for woman. This is often misused in this world for the word erotic.

4. Agape Love – “God’s unconditional Love”

I really think it is hard to understand this love, because I could not still understand how God accepts me after I do the mistakes again and again against him but still he shows his same love towards me. Today we
give few chances for people if they don’t change we remove them from our Life. This is the Love god showed to every one of us when he sent his son “Jesus” to earth not to punish but to die for you and me.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

I am going try to explain this love with simple words…

a) Agape Love is continues, it does not give breaks (God loves you and me continuously even when you does not love him or know him)

b) Agape Love is not based on your acknowledgement or response. (This is one reason God is so patient on this world, even after humans spoil them self and the whole world)

c) Agape Love does not keep track of your past sins, but it wipes out your sin. (God is loving and he is able to forgive you when you repent, you need not live with guilt forever)

d) Agape Love suffers long for others to benefit (Jesus the son of God was in the cross suffering long for our sins)

e) Agape Love is Adaptable, It does not demand others to come to you, but it goes to others. (Jesus came to this world to save us, as we could not go to God with our sins, Because he is holy)

f) Agape Love will not Self Parade itself. (God’s love is always shared and spread by people who tasted this real love).  God would be in tears when people today Kill or hurt others in his own name. It really means they don’t know God.

g) Love does not keep the Joy and happiness for himself uncaring for others (I thank God for his grace that I could share the Love of Jesus to you, Because I tasted it is good and comforting and want every one
of my friends and well wishers to enjoy the Love of Jesus when ever they are in need)

h) Etc…

The list goes on like this; I know I will try to understand it all through my life because it really could not be understood by our small human brain.

God Loves You with Agape Love. And he expects us to show this Agape Love to our Neighbors, from Jesus words  “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved (AGAPE LOVE) you, so you must love (SHOW AGAPE LOVE) one another.” – John 13:34
