There is nothing Hallow about Halloween!

What is Halloween really?

Meaning: All Hallows’ Even

“Halloween has its origins in the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain from the Old Irish samain. The festival of Samhain is a celebration of the end of the harvest season in Gaelic culture, The ancient Gaels believed that on October 31, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the alive and the deceased dissolved, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops. So according to their believes to scar the dead people from coming to their house and community they put all scary masks and celebrated Halloween.

Is there any Hallowness in this?

Today Children were encouraged to play fun on this day. Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, ghost tours, bonfires, costume parties, visiting haunted attractions, carving jack-o’-lanterns, reading scary stories, and watching horror movies. There is nothing Holy in this List. Do you want your children to be part of this?

God thought me a very precious lesson not to base my life on opinions but on his word long back, Though I stumbled many time, I strive to walk in his precepts. I was talking with one of my friend who used to read a famous business Week regularly and used to give me wonderful tips of the world market, but he said to me that the magazine never reported any thing about that the market is coming to a crash, simply because always the articles were based on opinions of mortal men. Even Alan Green span who many treated like god, stated before the congress that he was surprised to see the behaviour of the markets after the crash. In those days TV Channel’s gave you NEWS about what happened and where it happened but today when you tune on any TV News (namesake) channel 95% of the broadcast were just Opinion of people(most of the time one sided). NEWS is telling the Truth, but opinion is just what people perceive.

“Everyone did as he saw fit” Judges 21:25

What does The Bible say about this kind of Life?

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” Romans 12:2

“Friendship with the world is enmity to God.” James 4:4

“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness…. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” Isaiah 5:20-21

“The light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.”  John 3:19-20

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” John 1:5

“In the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!” 2 Timothy 3:1-3

Lord help us to teach our Children about God, Hope, Holiness, Love, Life, Truth, and Faith not trick-or-treating or scaring people and glorifying occult practices of witch craft and death.

Prayer:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
   hallowed be your name,
   your kingdom come,
   your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven”

  1. God doesn’t want us to participate in occult activities, but the meaning of Halloween has changed over the years. How do you feel about harvest festivals as a way to celebrate the bountiful crops that God has blessed us with?

  2. I totally agree with you Larry, That we should and teach our children to Praise God on this wonderful day. In our church we have Hallelujah Night Party to celebrate God’s faithfulness.

    God Bless You!
